A special class of pupils ๐๐ปwho we hope to see much more of… please keep reading to find out why!
Hi everyone, sorry it’s been a while since posting here. Time has flown since Christmas and Gemma’s car accident at the end of last term (see previous post) and we are pleased to say things are now well back on track.
While we have a busy few weeks ahead before our return to the U.K. for Easter and then more to come on our return, one of the big things we are looking forward to is our DTS (Discipleship Training School) coming up in July.
Some of you might not be aware (as we weren’t writing a blog back then) that back in 2014 Gemma and I started a Christian Primary School in an area called Kaniki, a few hours from where we now live. The above photo is of our first class of pupils on their very first day!
We set up the school to give a solid Christian and educational foundation to the children we were supporting through our orphan project, though the school was also open to other children in the community, and over the years we have been delighted to see the results. We always said that it was God’s school and even if it only existed a few years it would be worth it for the long-term impact on each pupil’s life that had been there.
In 2020, that first class of pupils completed their grade 7 exams and with outstanding results went on to secondary education. We wanted to go and celebrate with them but, of course, Covid prevented us from travelling.
Here’s a photo ๐๐ปof them graduating grade 7!
Over the last few years we have been so pleased to take our DTS teams to Kaniki and to be able to see and encourage some of our former pupils as they progressed through to grade 12. They completed their grade 12 exams at the end of 2025 and picked up their results in January, again having done really really well. So what next???
Well, the four highlighted faces in that graduation photo above are now applying to join us on this year’s DTS! ๐
If you look again at that class photo from the day the school opened you’ll see 3 of them - Moses smiling brightly on the left back-row, Victor 2 places to his right and Mabel in front of him (second from the left front-row). The 4th, Joyce, joined the school just a few days later.
Can you spot them all in their grade 7 graduation photo??

This is Mabel now ๐๐ป and below that dressed as a super hero when she was quite a bit younger ๐ช
It's so good to see them all now as young 17-19 year olds. We are just so happy that they have done so well and having been encouraged in their faith for all these years, are now wanting to grow and serve on our 6 month DTS.
They are all doing their best at the moment to find work so they can save up the money for the course fees ($1200 each).
We, of course, want to help them raise the money so they can continue this amazing discipleship journey. We know God has His hand on them and are asking for any donations towards their fees. If you want and are able to contribute, then you can do so either through our Justgiving link or by getting in touch with us for other options.
With lots of love and thanks for your support of us and those we have invested in over the years!! ๐๐ป
